Will Daugherty to serve as Pacific Science Center’s next President and CEO
SEATTLE, WA (December 7, 2015) – After an extensive search process involving more than 200 applicants from around the globe, the Board of Directors has selected Will Daugherty as the new President and CEO of Pacific Science Center. Daugherty will assume the leadership post from Cory Sbarbaro, longtime leadership and organizational change consultant, who has served as the institution’s interim President and CEO for the past 16 months.
“All of us at Pacific Science Center believe deeply in the importance and potential of this great institution,” said Barbara Hulit, Pacific Science Center Board Chair. “We are excited to build on the strong momentum we’ve established in the past year and, under Will’s leadership, develop an innovative and forward-looking vision for the Science Center’s long-term future.”
Daugherty’s longstanding passion for education, science, and technology is reflected in his more than 15 years of experience serving on the boards of directors of nonprofit institutions including the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, the Olympic Park Institute, and KEXP. Daugherty also brings more than two decades of leadership experience from both Seattle and around the world. Daugherty began his career in management consulting with McKinsey & Company, where he ultimately served as a Partner, and then spent the next 12 years as a successful executive with several well-known companies including Expedia and Amazon. He currently serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Washington, working with faculty, researchers, and students to launch new businesses and identify technologies with commercial promise.
“I am deeply honored to join Pacific Science Center, an institution with an extraordinary history of bringing science to life,” said Daugherty. “I am grateful to the Board of Directors and staff for welcoming me as a colleague, and am excited to work with them to deepen the Science Center’s impact as an innovator and leader in providing science, technology, engineering, and math inspiration and education.”
Daugherty’s service as President and CEO of Pacific Science Center will begin on January 4, 2016. Learn more in this PacSci Podcast:
