Thank You, Volunteers
Pacific Science Center engages more than 600 volunteers assist countless groups across campus from youth programming and science interpretation to education and everything in between.. Our volunteers’ dedication to our mission of igniting curiosity and fueling a passion for discovery, experimentation, and critical thinking in all of us has a ripple effect across the organization. Volunteers readily weave their personal expertise, interests and talents into the vibrant tapestry that is the PacSci community. We are always thankful for our volunteers and National Volunteer Week is the perfect time for us to spotlight their stories and say “thank you” on a larger scale.
PacSci volunteers contribute to our youth programming, including programs like Discovery Corps and summer camps, as well as environmental education at Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center, interactive science interpretation activities on our floor, unique experiences like What is Reality, and our Tropical Butterfly House. Volunteers also support us behind-the-scenes with administrative and office projects. Whether contributing creatively to our Artist in Residence program, Tinker Tank makerspace, gathering and inputting data in our I-Labs research studio, or as part of our Data Squad, PacSci volunteers embody passion and curiosity and are a driving force in making our establishment a true community laboratory and living room.
PacSci is celebrating the 2019 National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 7-13) by participating in a weeklong reciprocal admission program with other arts & cultural institutions across the Puget Sound. Volunteers of a participating organization can visit other participating institutions free of charge all week long! In addition, we’re extending our internal volunteer appreciation celebration to also include the following week, April 14-20. Over our two week celebration, PacSci volunteers can enjoy free treats in our Cafe, bring their friends and family to visit us without using their Membership guest passes, and are invited to attend our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party on Thursday, April 18.
To all of our incredible volunteers, we wish you a happy National Volunteer Week and a sincere and heartfelt thank you for helping to keep PacSci creative, collaborative, joyful, and fun!
