GENERAL GUEST INVITATION

Subject line: Join me on April 24
Hi <name of your guest>!
Do you believe every young deserves a high-quality STEM education?

If you’re anything like me, I bet the answer is a resounding “Yes!” No child should miss out on an education that prepares them for the innovation economy. But too many children in our community face obstacles; from under-resourced schools, to financial challenges at home, to persistent gender biases.

This is why Pacific Science Center created the Access to Science Pipeline. They provide low- or no-cost memberships, need-based financial aid for our science camps, scholarships for field trips for school groups from low-income communities, free or reduced-price outreach programming for groups located too far from the Science Center to visit in person, and high school development programs with a focus on female, low-income, and students of color.

I am so grateful for this organization, I don’t know of any other organization in Seattle that brings science to life for so many children each year, and am gladly giving back to the Science Center by hosting a table at their Annual Breakfast. I would really love for you to join me at this event.

The Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, 7-9 am, at the Washington State Convention Center.

  • 7-7:30 a.m. – Haven’t been to Pacific Science Center recently, no problem, we are bringing some of our most interesting activities to you! I know it’s early, don’t worry coffee will be available when you arrive.
  • 7:30-9 a.m. – Breakfast and program focusing on the stories of impact from PacSci’s Access to Science Pipeline. Featured Speaker is Julie Sandler, Managing Director of Pioneer Square Labs. Learn more about Julie here.

The Breakfast is the largest annual fundraiser for Pacific Science Center and their goal is to raise $825,000 or more through this event. There is no cost to me or to any guest at the Breakfast, but everyone will be asked to make a donation during the program and gifts can be made in monthly installments. My personal goal is to raise <$xxx> at my table in support of the Science Center.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting what I believe is an incredibly valuable organization that is inspiring the next generation of innovators every day. It should be a great time – hope you can make it and I look forward to hearing from you – so that I can sign you up!

GENERAL GUEST INVITATION TO A GUEST WHO JOINED YOU LAST YEAR

Subject line: Join me again on April 24

Hi there [first name],

Remember the Foundations of Science Breakfast last year? It’s happening again this year on Tuesday, April 24, 7-9 a.m. at Washington State Convention Center.

As usual and because Pacific Science Center is near and dear to my heart, I am hosting a table and would love for you to join me again.

Because you were there last year, you know that the Foundations of Science Breakfast is not your ordinary fundraising breakfast. It’s a fun and inspiring event, celebrating innovation and curiosity. There will be a great breakfast and program focusing on the stories of impact from PacSci’s Access to Science Pipeline, with the featured speaker this year Julie Sandler, Managing Director of Pioneer Square Labs. Just like last year, there will be hands on science exhibits for you to engage with between 7 and 7:30 a.m.

I hope you have time and are interested in having breakfast with me and Pacific Science Center in xx weeks. Please do let me know so that I can get you registered.

I look forward to hearing from you,

GUEST INVITATION IF YOU CO-HOST A TABLE WITH SOMEONE ELSE

Subject line: Inspire Innovation by supporting Pacific Science Center!

Dearest friends,

The Science Center is an incredible asset to the Seattle– and I felt it was important to give back.
As part of my giving back, I’m co-hosting a table with my friend, NAME, at the Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 – their primary fundraiser for the year – and I’d really love for you to join me at this event and use the time together as a chance to catch up!

WHY ATTEND?

  • Free breakfast! Sort of… no cost to attend, but donations expected during the program. This is THE fundraiser.
  • Pacific Science Center has been around for 55 years and served more than 1 million people in the past year. I’d like to think my grandchildren will have the same access to hands-on science education.
  • Catch up with friends (old and new). I was amazed by the number of folks I ran in to last year (450+ attended)
  • Not your ordinary fundraiser…. Where else do you get to inflate pig lungs, walk through a planetarium, or put on VR goggle before breakfast?! (7-7:30 a.m.)
  • A worthy excuse to get up early. An early morning breakfast is not the world’s most convenient time, BUT it’s just once a year and a good cause.

I’d be honored if you could join me. Please take a moment to consider and let me know if you’ll be able to join me. I’ll be happy to get you registered and squared away. If you can’t make it, let me know and I promise to stop bugging you. But I invite you to join us in both spirit and intent with a gift in lieu of attendance.

xxx
P.S. Please pass the invite to any friends who would like to join the fun.

GUEST INVITATION FOR INVITING CO-WORKERS

Do you know that there are colleagues and co-workers at your company or business who enjoy Pacific Science Center? They might be unlikely to attend the breakfast on their own, but they might join in a table of colleagues from your company! Send them an invitation, offering to pull together a table of PacSci fans from your organization. A great way to support Pacific Science Center and do some good networking with colleagues where you work!

Hi there.
Do you believe every young deserves a high-quality STEM education?

If you’re anything like me, I bet the answer is a resounding “Yes!” No child should miss out on an education that prepares them for the innovation economy. I am getting a group together from <name of company> for the Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast in the spring and would love it if you would join me.

Breakfast will be happening on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 7-9am at the Washington State Convention Center.

  • Come inflate a pig’s lungs, walk through a planetarium, play with VR goggles or learn a little something about our wonderful wetlands in the Mercer Slough between 7 and 7:30 a.m.
  • Inspiring program between 7:30 and 9 a.m. focusing on the stories of impact from PacSci’s Access to Science Pipeline. Featured Speaker is Julie Sandler, Managing Director of Pioneer Square Labs. Learn more about Julie here.

I know everyone has incredibly busy schedules, but you know you love the Science Center, and you have to eat breakfast!

There is no cost for breakfast, but this is a fundraising event and during the breakfast program you will be asked to make a donation and pledge your support.

Please take a moment to consider and let me know if you’ll be able to join me. I’ll be happy to get you registered and squared away. You then just need to show up on April 24, network with other colleagues from our company, and support Pacific Science Center!

I’m happy to answer any questions and look forward to hearing from you.

INVITATION COMING SOON

Response to Someone Who Can’t Join You

Gifts in Lieu of Attendance are important in helping us reach our goal. Here is a suggested template to encourage your friends who can’t attend the Breakfast to support you and the Science Center anyways. Feel free to tailor and use it.

Hello <name of guest>,

<insert a personal response to why your guest can’t join you>.

I invite you to join me in spirit at the Breakfast with a gift in lieu of attendance. The Breakfast is Pacific Science Center’s biggest annual fundraiser and raises crucial funds so that the Science Center can continue to provide incredible programs and opportunities like Family Access Memberships, benefitting over 3,800 local families on public assistance, which include more than 7,000 children.

There are three easy ways you can make a gift today:

  1. You can either send your gift to me <include your address> and I can take it to the Breakfast.
  2. You can support the Science Center <and my goal in raising $xxx to ignite curiosity in every child> by sending your check (payable to Pacific Science Center) to Pacific Science Center, 200 2nd Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109. If you send a check, make sure you put ‘Breakfast gift/ table <enter Breakfast Champion name>’ so they know it’s a Breakfast gift to be counted toward my Breakfast table.
  3. If you feel comfortable with an online donation, you may choose the fast and easy route and click here to make your gift. Please indicate in the comment field ‘Breakfast gift/ table <enter table captain name>’ so that your gift gets connected with my table.

I support the Science Center every year <this year> because there is no other organization in Seattle that provides so many children access to hands-on science education. I want to make sure that no future innovator is left behind due to background or circumstance.

<or enter why you are passionate about giving to Pacific Science Center>

Hope you consider a gift in lieu of coming to the Breakfast.

Gratefully yours,

<your name>

Sample Guest Reminders

Even though the Science Center will send out a guest confirmation to all of your registered guests (via email) we recommend that you as the Breakfast Champion also keep in contact with your guests up until the Breakfast on April 24. The following sample guest reminder countdown strategy might help. Please read carefully before sending and tailor to your guests, as some of the suggested text might not apply to you.

Hello [first name],

Email 2: Tue, April 10, Subject Line: Pacific Science Center Breakfast Countdown – 2 weeks from today…

Hello [first name],

2 weeks from today more than 700 Pacific Science Center advocates will be sharing breakfast together at Washington State Convention Center! This means that we all are part of something big, fun, and inspiring. I think of the Breakfast as an opportunity to see the impact that the Science Center has year round, throughout so many programs and hands-on experiences. I will be in touch next week with a few more details and to reveal to you my personal goal.

Stay tuned!

Email 3: Tue, April 17, Subject Line: PacSci Breakfast Countdown – Can’t wait to have breakfast with you next week

Hello [first name],

I can’t wait to see you next Wednesday (April 24) at the Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast. We will have a great time.

By now you should have received the guest confirmation from the Science Center with all the important information on parking, directions, breakfast program, and meal.

If for some reason, you cannot join me for breakfast next Wednesday, please let me know right away, as your seat is reserved.

And, you can still make a donation to demonstrate how much Pacific Science Center means to you. Simply click on this link to make your online donation or send a check to Pacific Science Center, 200 2nd Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109!

A few reminders:

I’d like to encourage you to arrive early at the Washington State Convention Center. The program starts at 7:30 a.m. sharp, but doors open at 7 a.m. and Pacific Science Center has planned an exciting array of hands-on science activities. Come and…

  • Inflate a pig’s lung, I know you have always wanted to try this
  • Take a turn with the VR goggles, always a crowd pleaser
  • Learn about our beautiful wetlands at the Mercer Slough, always open to the public just waiting for you!
  • In addition, parking will be much easier and stress free when you arrive early.

And more importantly, I would really like for you to have time to mingle and visit with my other guests <mention their names, titles if appropriate>.

As you know, this is Pacific Science Center’s annual fundraising event, and in addition to enjoying each other’s company and an inspiring program, we are all attending this event to support the Science Center generously. So please bring your checkbook and/or credit card and a giving spirit. There will be a time during the Breakfast when you will be asked to make your donation (so hold off with writing the check until you come to the Breakfast!).

My personal goal is to raise $XXX <to be inserted> at my table and I hope you will consider a gift that will help me reach that goal. <I have also decided to match the money raised at my table, so, please take me up on my challenge!>

If by any chance the company you work for matches charitable contributions, you can make your personal gift go even further. And by the way: your $300 gift can be paid off in monthly credit card installments of $25 per month …so that makes it easy!

Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions about the Breakfast. <And let me know if you need a ride. I would be happy to pick you up before the Breakfast.>
