Greetings!

I know this is way early, but I also know how busy we can all get and how soon our calendars fill up.

That’s why I wanted to send you a quick note as early as possible asking you to Save the Date for the 15th Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, 7 – 9 a.m. Breakfast will be held at the Washington State Convention Center and I will be hosting a table <again>. Of course, I would love for you to join me <again>.

General Guest Invitation

Subject line: Inspire Innovation by supporting Pacific Science Center!

Hi <name of your guest>!

Are you passionate about safeguarding the future of science education?

During the Foundations of Science Breakfast, you will have the opportunity to experience Pacific Science Center’s hands-on science education programming. See first-hand a sample of what Pacific Science Center visitors experience daily.

Additionally, students from our Discovery Corps youth development program will be in attendance, speaking about their personal experiences in the program and how it has impacted them.

I am so grateful for this organization, I don’t know of any other organization in Seattle that brings science to life for so many children each year, and am gladly giving back to Pacific Science Center by hosting a table at their Annual Breakfast (link: to Breakfast page). I would really love for you to join me at this event.

The Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, 7-9 am, at the Washington State Convention Center.

  • 7 – 7:30 a.m. — Haven’t been to Pacific Science Center recently, no problem, we are bringing some of our most interesting activities to you! I know it’s early, don’t worry coffee will be available when you arrive.
  • 7:30 – 9 a.m. — Program and Breakfast focusing on the stories of impact from several Pacific Science Center program participants.

The Breakfast is the largest annual fundraiser for Pacific Science Center and their goal is to raise $615,000 or more through this event. There is no cost to me or to any guest at the Breakfast, but everyone will be asked to make a donation during the program and gifts can be made in monthly installments. My personal goal is to raise $<xxx> at my table in support of Pacific Science Center.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting what I believe is an incredibly valuable organization that is inspiring the next generation of innovators every day. It should be a great time — hope you can make it and I look forward to hearing from you — so that I can sign you up!

GENERAL GUEST INVITATION to a guest who joined you last year

Hi there <first name>,

Remember the Foundations of Science Breakfast last year? It’s happening again this year on Tuesday, April 24, 7 – 9 a.m. at Washington State Convention Center.

As usual and because Pacific Science Center is near and dear to my heart, I am hosting a table and would love for you to join me again.

Because you were there last year, you know that the Foundations of Science Breakfast is not your ordinary fundraising breakfast. It’s a fun and inspiring event, celebrating innovation and curiosity. And besides a great breakfast and motivating program starting at 7:30 a.m., there will be hands on science exhibits for you to engage with between 7 and 7:30 am.

I hope you have time and are interested in having breakfast with me and PSC in <xx> weeks. Please do let me know so that I can get you registered.

I look forward to hearing from you,

[Your Name]Guest Invitations From a group leader, board member or volunteer

Subject line: Inspire Innovation by supporting Pacific Science Center!

Ladies/Gentlemen!

<As most of you know, I’ve been serving on the Pacific Science Center board for the past <xx> years.>

Studies show that getting children engaged in interactive STEM learning from an early age leads to a deeper understanding of science concepts. Although we are at the forefront of this effort, we need your help to succeed. Today’s children can unlock the greatest discoveries in science, technology, engineering, and math.

I am <once again> hosting a table at their Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Washington State Convention Center. This is the Science Center’s primary fundraiser for the year, and I invite you to join me at this event!

  • 7 – 7:30 a.m. — Haven’t been to Pacific Science Center recently, no problem, we are bringing some of our most interesting activities to you!

7:30 – 9 a.m. — Program focusing on the stories of impact from several Pacific Science Center program participants. In the past year, Pacific Science Center subsidized over 2,500 Family Access Membership (FAM), which include over 5,800 children, for local families on public assistance and provided over 150 scholarships for Camps for Curious Minds. While we are proud of these numbers, we are dedicated to increasing our access programs each year with your help.

Our fundraising efforts support not only FAM and camps scholarships, but also our teen career development programs, Discovery Corps and Lake Washington Watershed Internship Program, so children of all ages have access to hands-on science education. And each year, the board, staff, and volunteers at PSC are actively working on reaching new families, so no future innovator is left behind.

The Breakfast is the largest annual fundraiser for Pacific Science Center and their goal is to raise $615,000 through this event. There is no cost to me or to any guest at the Breakfast, but everyone will be asked to make a donation during the program and gifts can be made in monthly installments. You will need to decide what amount is right for you and your family. My personal goal is to raise $xxx at my table in support of Pacific Science Center.

Please take a moment to consider and let me know if you’ll be able to join me. I’ll be happy to get you registered and squared away. And if you can’t make it, I invite you to join us in both spirit and intent with a gift in lieu of attendance (www.pacsci.org/breakfast). Again, please let me know and I can help coordinate.

Cheers,

Guest Invitation If you co-host a table with someone else

Subject line: Inspire Innovation by supporting Pacific Science Center!

Dearest friends,

As many of you know, the Pacific Science Center (link: www.pacsci.org) provides access to hands-on science education in order to ignite curiosity in every child and fuel a passion for discovery, experimentation, and critical thinking in all of us.

Studies show that getting children engaged in interactive STEM learning from an early age leads to a deeper understanding of science concepts. And although the Science Center is at the forefront of this effort, we need your help to succeed. Today’s children can unlock the greatest discoveries in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Pacific Science Center is an incredible asset to the Seattle technology community — and I felt it was important to give back.

As part of my giving back, I’m co-hosting a table with my friend, NAME, at the Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 — their primary fundraiser for the year — and I’d really love for you to join me at this event and use the time together as a chance to catch up!

WHY ATTEND?

  • Free breakfast! Sort of… no cost to attend, but donations expected during the program. This is THE fundraiser.
  • Pacific Science Center has been around for 55 years and served more than 1 million people in the past year. I’d like to think my grandchildren will have the same access to hands-on science education.
  • Catch up with friends (old and new). I was amazed by the number the folks I ran in to last year (450+ attended)
  • Not your ordinary fundraiser…. Where else do you get to inflate pig lungs or put on VR goggle before breakfast?! (7-7:30am)
  • A worthy excuse to get up early. An early morning breakfast is not the world’s most convenient time, BUT it’s just once a year and a good cause.

I’d be honored if you could join me. Please take a moment to consider and let me know if you’ll be able to join me. I’ll be happy to get you registered and squared away. If you can’t make it, let me know and I promise to stop bugging you. But I invite you to join us in both spirit and intent with a gift in lieu of attendance (link: www.pacsci.org/breakfast).

<your name>

P.S. Please pass the invite to any friends who would like to join the fun.

Guest invitation for Inviting co-workers

Do you know that there are colleagues and co-workers at your company or business who enjoy Pacific Science Center? They might be unlikely to attend the breakfast on their own, but they might join in a table of colleagues from your company! Send them an invitation, offering to pull together a table of Pacific Science Center fans from your organization. A great way to support Pacific Science Center and do some good networking with colleagues where you work!

Hi there.

I know many of us here at <name of company> (I work in xyz division), have taken our children to Pacific Science Center and seen the wonder on their faces when they see the dinosaurs for the first time or shoot off their first rocket in the Tinker Tank, like me. I am getting a group together from <name of company> for the Annual Foundations of Science Breakfast in the spring and would love it if you would join me.

Breakfast will be happening on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, 7 – 9 a.m. at the Washington State Convention Center.

  • Come inflate a pig’s lungs, play with VR goggles or learn a little something about our wonderful wetlands in the Mercer Slough between 7 and 7:30 a.m.!
  • Inspiring program between 7:30 and 9 a.m. focusing on the personal stories of impact from several Pacific Science Center participants.

I know everyone has incredibly busy schedules, but you know you love Pacific Science Center, and you have to eat breakfast!

There is no cost for breakfast, but this is a fundraising event and during the breakfast program you will be asked to make a donation and pledge your support.

Please take a moment to consider and let me know if you’ll be able to join me. I’ll be happy to get you registered and squared away. You then just need to show up on April 24, network with other colleagues from our company, and support Pacific Science Center!

I’m happy to answer any questions and look forward to hearing from you.

Response to Someone Who Can’t Join You

Gifts in Lieu of Attendance are important in helping us reach our goal. Here is a suggested template to encourage your friends who can’t attend the Breakfast to support you and Pacific Science Center anyways. Feel free to tailor and use it.

Hello <name of guest>,

<insert a personal response to why your guest can’t join you>.

I invite you to join me in spirit at the Breakfast with a gift in lieu of attendance. The Breakfast is Pacific Science Center’s biggest annual fundraiser and raises crucial funds so that Pacific Science Centercan continue to provide programs and opportunities like Family Access Memberships that benefit more than 2,500 local families on public assistance, which include over 5,800 children.

There are three easy ways you can make a gift today:

  1. You can either send your gift to me <include your address> and I can take it to the Breakfast, or
  2. You can support PSC <and my goal in raising $<xxx> to ignite curiosity in every child> by sending your check (payable to Pacific Science Center) to Pacific Science Center, 200 2nd Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109. If you send a check, make sure you put ‘Breakfast gift/ table <enter table captain name>’ so they know it’s a Breakfast gift to be counted toward my Breakfast table.
  3. If you feel comfortable with an online donation, you may choose the fast and easy route and click here (www.pacsci.org/breakfast) to make your gift. Please indicate in the comment field ‘Breakfast gift/ table <enter table captain name>’ so that your gift gets connected with my table.

I support Pacific Science Center every year <this year> because there is no other organization in Seattle that exposes so many children to fun, hands-on science education. I want to make sure, that the no future innovator is left behind.

<or enter why you are passionate about giving to Pacific Science Center>

Hope you consider a gift in lieu of coming to the Breakfast.

Gratefully yours,

<your name>

Sample Guest Reminders

Even though Pacific Science Center will send out a guest confirmation to all of your registered guests (via email) we recommend, that you as the table captain also keep in contact with your guests up until the Breakfast on April 24. The following sample guest reminder countdown strategy might help with that. Please do read carefully before you send and tailor to your guests, as some of the suggested text might not apply to you.

  • Email 1: Tue, April 3, Subject Line: PSC Breakfast Countdown — 3 weeks from today…

Hello <first name>, Thank you so much for joining me at the Pacific Science Center Breakfast (insert link: www.pacsci.org/breakfast) on April 24. It is exactly three weeks from today and I hope you have it still in your calendar and have time to come for the hands-on fun starting at 7 a.m. (program starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m.)! Will be fun to see you and have breakfast with you and my friends! Hope all is well. <Your name>

  • Email 2: Tue, April 10, Subject Line: PSC Breakfast Countdown — 2 weeks from today…

Hello [first name], 2 weeks from today more than 700 Pacific Science Center advocates will be sharing breakfast together at Washington State Convention Center! This means that we all are part of something big and fun and inspiring. I think of the Breakfast as an opportunity to see the impact that PSC has year round, throughout so many programs and hands-on experiences. I will be in touch next week with a few more details and to reveal to you my personal goal. Stay tuned! <Your name>

  • Email 3: Tue, April 17, Subject Line: PSC Breakfast Countdown — Can’t wait to have breakfast with you next week

Hello <first name>, I can’t wait to see you next Tuesday (April 24) at the Foundations of Science Annual Breakfast. We will have a great time.

By now you should have received the guest confirmation from Pacific Science Center with all the important information on parking, directions, breakfast program, and meal.

If for some reason, you cannot join me for breakfast next Tuesday, please let me know right away, as your seat is reserved. And: you can still make a donation to demonstrate how much Pacific Science center means to you. Simply click on this link (www.pacsci.org/breakfast) to make your online donation or send a check to Pacific Science Center, 200 2nd Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109!

A few reminders:

I’d like to encourage you to arrive early at the Washington State Convention Center. The program starts at 7:30 a.m. sharp, but doors open at 7 a.m. and Pacific Science Center has planned an exciting array of hands-on science activities. Come and…

  • Inflate a pig’s lung, I know you have always wanted to try this
  • Take a turn with the VR goggles, always a crowd pleaser
  • Learn about our beautiful wetlands at the Mercer Slough, always open to the public just waiting for you!
  • In addition, parking will be much easier and stress free when you arrive early.

And more importantly, I would really like for you to have time to mingle and visit with my other guests <mention their names, titles if appropriate>.

As you know, this is Pacific Science Center’s annual fundraising event, and in addition to enjoying each other’s company and an inspiring program, we are all attending this event to support Pacific Science Center generously. So please bring your checkbook and/or credit card and a giving spirit. There will be a time during the Breakfast when you will be asked to make your donation (so hold off with writing the check until you come to the Breakfast!).

My personal goal is to raise $XXX <to be inserted> at my table and I hope you will consider a gift that will help me reach that goal. <I have also decided to match the money raised at my table, so, please take me up on my challenge!>

If by any chance the company you work for matches charitable contributions, you can make your personal gift go even further. And by the way: your $300 gift can be paid off in monthly credit card installments of $25 per month …so that makes it easy!

Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions about the Breakfast. <And let me know if you need a ride. I would be happy to pick you up before the Breakfast.>
