Dive In at Pacific Science Center

Explore the waters of Puget Sound and beyond with local scientists as part of Curiosity Days. This month, get to know the world that lies beneath 71% of our planet. Discover aquatic life and ecosystems, dive into oceanography, and learn how we protect our vital water resources. Don’t miss our Saltwater Tide Pool to see and touch live Puget Sound animals. Saltwater Tide Pool – Touch an anemone, hold a hermit crab, and gaze upon tide pool creatures in all of their squishy and pokey glory.
Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center – Pacific Science Center Educators from our Mercer Slough location will be outside in our Courtyard with:
- Stream Tables: Explore erosion, sedimentation and deposition and how it affects an urban landscape.
- Water Quality: Learn about water quality and how scientists test the health of an aquatic ecosystem.
NOAA – Learn from local scientists about what fish eat and see some amazing fish stomachs and things that were inside.
Friends of the Waterfront – Learn more about Seattle’s new salmon-friendly seawall with Friends of Waterfront Seattle.
Rotating Activities on Our Exhibit Floor – Join us for a variety of activities throughout the day focused on sea creatures, water, and more!
Beach Walk – Take an up close and personal look at a variety of sea creatures and shells.
Drink the Water – Where does our drinking water come from? Find out with us.
Ocean Acidification – Learn about the carbon cycle and how ocean acidification affects both the smallest and largest creatures.
Wild about Whales – Learn all about whales and hold models and real whale artifacts.
Tinkering with Buoyancy – In our Tinker Tank, tinker experiment with buoyancy. Come complete a challenge getting a boat to stay afloat.
Puget Soundkeeper Alliance – Dive into the water column to learn more about the material that breaks up but not down.
