Earth Week at Pacific Science Center
April 16-22, 2018
Earth Week Food Drive
Do some spring cleaning and enjoy Earth Day celebrations on both Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 with us! A non-perishable food donation will get non-members $3 off entry and members will be able to use their donations as guest passes* for these days only!
*Max four guest passes will be allotted per member. If you bring five or more food donations, you will still receive four passes.
Celebrate Earth Day all week long with Pacific Science Center. Our exhibits offer a wide variety of earth-centric experiences from the ground beneath your feet to the depths of the oceans and the sky above. We also have baby pandas in 3D!
Explore our local geology and tidal currents at the Puget Sound Model, now with augmented reality. Witness the beauty of Mother Nature right before your eyes as you walk through our Pollinator Garden and Civilized Seeds exhibits. Travel back in time to learn what Earth was like during the Mesozoic era in Dinosaurs: A Journey Through Time, and then stop by the Tree Slice, an exhibit kept from the 1962 World’s Fair, and count the rings to learn the age of an old-growth tree. Dive with whales at the VR Microtheater, an eight-minute virtual reality experience that takes you deep into the ocean.
Complete your experience with a show! At the Live Science Stage, our educators will teach you all about snakes, butterflies and how animals adapt to survive. In the Laser Dome, our laser artists have curated a special Laser Earth Day show celebrating science, conservation and the earth’s natural beauty. Finally, visit our IMAX theaters for documentaries about panda conservation, sea life and more.
On April 20, we’ll be premiering the new IMAX documentary Oceans: Our Blue Planet 3D. Join us for an oceanic adventure as new ocean science and technology allows researchers to explore further into the unknown than ever thought possible. Kate Winslet narrates your journey into the blue where you’ll witness spectacular stories of life and survival beneath the waves, and aquatic behavior never before seen until now.
These experiences and more will be available at Pacific Science Center for Earth Week, April 16-22. On Saturday, April 21, we are excited to host a book release for Explore the Salish Sea: A Nature Guide for Kids by Joseph K. Gaydos and Audrey Benedict, from 2-3 p.m. The authors will give a presentation on the book and the photography included, followed by a Q&A session and book signing.
