Event Details

Explore the process of creating games, discover the history behind them, try out different VR gaming experiences, and more. This science-filled weekend features hands-on activities from local experts and a variety of game-themed partners.

Partners include:

  • Academy of Interactive Entertainment: Sculpt and paint on tablets, and learn about and play video games
  • Blue Highway Games: Modern board and card games for everyone to play
  • Brightwyrm Studios: Live-action, embodied, immersive adventures and games that lead to real world knowledge and empathy building
  • Child’s Play Charity: VR games that have therapeutic benefits for people to try
  • Creature Creator: Visit the Artist Living Studio in Building 4 to play the creature creator drawing game, designed by our Artist in Residence, Kalen Knowles
  • Foundry 10: A game design session where people can make variations to a game they can take home
  • Interactive Museum of Gaming and Puzzlery: Play ancient games and learn about their history
  • Kong Academy: Parkour activities to learn and experience moves such as jumping, vaulting, climbing, balancing and rolling
  • Laser Dome: Laser shows featuring video game soundtrack music; additional ticket required
  • Legacy: Mobile RPG games that make physical therapy rewarding
  • N.D.N. Players Research Group: Learn to play Potlatch, a game about Coash Salish economics
  • PNNL: Try out Network Collapse, a VR app where students must protect their computer network from viruses
  • Ravensburger: Playtest an unreleased family racing game titled Ready, Set, Sloth!
  • PacSci’s Science Interpretation Programs: Create your own camouflage butterfly pattern and hide it for others to find
  • Science on Wheels: Play Puzzling Pentominoes and test Tetris skills in this ancient math game
  • Seattle Indies: Developers demo their games, discuss the process of creating them, and have a VR experience for ages 13+
  • Tinker Tank: Tinker with board games and create video games
  • Unexpected Productions Improv: See a comedy show with a chance to ask the actors questions
  • UW Center for Game Science: Play the computer game Foldit and color in protein shapes
  • Washington Talking Book & Braille Library: Games with braille, large print, and tactile elements
  • WiR: Try VR games using the most current technologies; for ages 7+
