Scanning the Stars (Best for Grades K–8)

From telescopes to transportation, explore current science in the news and dive deeper into the basic STEM principles behind them. Join PacSci this December for live, interactive virtual programs to engage learners of all ages and spark curiosity in current STEM in our communities.

Celebrate the recent launch of the James Webb Space Telescope by learning what the light signatures from distant stars can tell us about their properties. Discover what mysteries astronomers hope to answer with this new telescope and learn how to explore your own night sky – no telescopes required.

To participate in an optional hands-on activity, bring a science notebook or piece of paper and set of basic coloring utensils such as crayons or colored pencils.

Recommended Ages: Grades K–8
