Sugar Addiction: Too Much of a Good Thing
Self-control while self-isolating can be hard! Our brains are hardwired to make us want more of the things that make us feel good, like delicious freshly baked cookies. Our bodies need sugar (glucose) in order to stay alive, but why are we drawn to consume more than we need? Can sugar be considered addictive? Regardless, sugar consumption can significantly impact our health.
To discuss, we’re joined by Dr. Atom Lesiak, Director of Education and Outreach in the Department of Genome Sciences at University of Washington. They will discuss the neuroscience of addiction and the potentially addictive properties of sugar.
