Exhibition Frequently Asked Questions

What does the exhibition include?
HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever, focuses on the history, culture, and science of hockey. Guests can fully immerse themselves in the world of hockey with over 20 hands-on interactives centered around key skills crucial to the sport. In addition to the interactives, PacSci partnered with the Kraken to develop specially curated local content highlighting the future of hockey, Seattle style.

Long before the Seahawks, Mariners, Storm, Sounders, Reign, or Sonics, Seattle was a hockey town. The Seattle Metropolitans were the first American hockey team to win the Stanley Cup in 1917. The team’s legacy lives on through their pioneering innovations and contributions to rules still in use by the NHL today. This innovative spirit will return to the ice with the Kraken’s inaugural season in Climate Pledge Arena, and with it, a curiosity for our community’s newest professional sport.

I thought the exhibition opened in October, why has that changed?
Yes, there was an update to the timeline of this exhibition resulting from shipping delays. As you may have heard in the news, shipping delays and congestion of West Coast Ports are major issues currently affecting many organizations and retailers. While we expect the shipping containers to be offloaded soon, nearly a month after their arrival in the Port of Seattle, we are still uncertain of their delivery date. We will wait to communicate the opening date until we have confirmation of the exhibition’s arrival at Pacific Science Center. Ticket holders for dates prior to the anticipated impacted dates were automatically refunded and notified via email. If you did not receive your refund, please contact gs@pacsci.org or call (206) 443-2844 for assistance.

Can I take pictures in the exhibit?
Yes, there are several photo opportunities including a penalty box, and a locker room full of NHL stars, and more.

Is PacSci fully reopen?
During this time, PacSci’s facilities remain closed.

As we re-envision how we can best serve our community, we don’t have a set timeline for welcoming the general public back to our facilities the way we did before the pandemic. We are planning a phased approach to our renewal to ensure economic sustainability and a high-quality guest experience.

We understand that some will be disappointed that we are not reopening as we were before. But we see this as an exciting opportunity to rethink how we serve the community, upgrade our guest experience, and ensure our long-term financial health.

Right now, guests can virtually experience PacSci through Virtual Field Trips, Curiosity at Home, Science in the City, and other content we offer online. PacSci is proud to continue to serve our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic with digital and virtual programming.

We will keep you updated as our plans evolve.

Where can I find more information?
Please continue to visit pacsci.org/visit for the latest information on reopening. You can also follow us on social media and subscribe to our e-newsletter to stay up to date on the latest information and happenings.
