Welcome to our materials and resources page. Here you will find a variety of scripts, activity guides and lesson plans created at Pacific Science Center. These materials were originally used in many different settings including week-long summer camps, shows and demonstrations to field trip and public audiences, or in school classrooms as part of our outreach program. We are happy to now be able to share them with you.

Mars Lander - Engineering Design Challenge

Mars Lander (teacher PD curriculum and resources)

Design a solution for the challenges of exploring Mars! Learn about the mysteries of the Red Planet, and imagine, design, test, and redesign a lander to get a “rover” on Mars.

  • Format: zip file including full curriculum for engineering design challenge, supplemental planetarium show adapted for flat screen, and background resources
  • Length: adaptable, up to 3 hours of content
  • Grade: 3-5 and 6-8
  • Project: this curriculum and teacher training was developed as part of the Northwest Earth and Space Science Pipeline grant.

Climate Change (Scripted Demonstration)
Discover the difference between weather and climate and what causes climate change. Explore how our climate is changing and brainstorm potential solutions.

Discover how volcanoes form and what happens when they erupt. Explore what would happen if Mount Rainier erupted, and the effects on Seattle and Puget Sound.

Venture into the science behind wind-driven surface currents, density-driven deep ocean currents, and how the movement of water can make it warm in Europe and cool in California.
