Math and Science Mashup
Find the intersections of math and science in your home at free community events.
Pacific Science Center has teamed up with Zeno to present Math and Science Mashups: free events inviting members of communities around Puget Sound to explore and discover the seemingly-hidden scientific world in our own homes.
Mashups transform cafeterias, gyms and community centers into a “house” of science and math, where families can explore dozens of fun, hands-on activities and mathematical theories at play in every room of the house. Make your own kazoo as you uncover the mathematics of music and the science of sound! Venture over to the “backyard” where you can discover how hula hoops work and engineer your own paper airplane.
Math and Science Mashups provide fun and informal experiences that foster curiosity in the relationship we have with math and science in our everyday lives. Each event encourages parents to nurture their own child’s success in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects.
Want to host a Mashup? Please contact Susie Imholt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Math and Science Mashups are made possible by the generous support of an anonymous local donor and Zeno, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build a sustainable math culture in elementary school communities around Washington State.
