New Research Confirms The Importance Of Proper Handwashing

Humans need to do a better job of washing their hands before meals. That’s the gist of a new study from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. According to this new research, “when it comes to handwashing before meals, consumers are failing to properly clean their hands 97 percent of the time.” That leads to all sorts of food borne illness. If this seems all too familiar, that may be because your grandmother pestered you about cleaning your hands before meals years ago. It’s also the message in Professor Wellbody’s Academy of Health & Wellness® at Pacific Science Center. It’s an exhibit dedicated to the life-long process of balancing exercise, diet, proper rest, and hygiene. This includes hand washing stations that demonstrate the proper way to clean your hands.
