PacSci DIY Episode 10: Buoyancy & Density

Water and oil may not mix, but they sure do create one fun science experiment! Learn the basic physics (and chemistry) of buoyancy and density with this simple experiment that will have you watching the results in awe. Try it with different oils or liquids to see which is more buoyant or if there is a difference in density. Does the ice cube melt faster or slower if it’s a different liquid? What you’ll need:

  • A clear cup or container
  • Vegetable oil
  • Ice cubes
