Science in the City

Join us for an evening program that celebrates the latest in scientific research and technological innovation.

Science in the City invites experts from local organizations to discuss timely topics in science and technology and how they affect our community. Each event features a presentation designed for general audiences followed by a discussion. Some events include exciting extras such as IMAX® documentary showings, planetarium demonstrations, or even hands-on activities to further explore the evening’s topic.

Women in STEM: Breaking Down Barriers

March 26 – Join us as a panel of female professionals across STEM fields discuss the barriers they have overcome during their careers, what they have seen change, and the future of women in STEM.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Global Access to Cancer Treatment

April 2 – In recognition of World Cancer Day, join Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, co-founder and CEO of The Max Foundation, as she discusses lessons learned from 15 years of facilitating access to cancer treatment in low-income countries. Learn more

Eradicating Malaria: The Big Fight Against Little Mosquitos

April 9 – Join us for a look at efforts to eradicate malaria in Uganda and to help lift communities out of poverty at the same time.

Mysteries of the Deep: Seattle's Underwater Secrets

April 16 – Join as we explore never-before-seen 3D models, photos and stories from the last century of hundreds of crashed airplanes, wrecked wooden ships and abandoned artifacts beneath the water surrounding Seattle.

The Science of Sports & Entertainment Series

In partnership with NHL Seattle & the Oak View Group

Sports, entertainment and science are coming together in a way never before seen in Seattle. Join us as we launch a new series, bringing together three powerhouses of innovation: NHL Seattle, Oak View Group and Pacific Science Center. In the coming months, we’ll explore the surprising and inspiring role science plays in the world of sports and entertainment, from geometry’s impact on the way a hockey puck moves across the ice and into the net, to the way physics shapes the path sounds take from the stage to the listener’s ear during a concert.

Global Health and Development Series

In partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Washington Global Health Alliance

On the second Tuesday of every month, this series features a a scientist or researcher who is working on scalable solutions to address global health problems. All Global Health and Development lectures are free and have drinks available for purchase. Our key partners in this series are the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Washington Global Health Alliance.
