A new partnership series with Seattle Kraken & Climate Pledge Arena
PacSci is unveiling an epic partnership. Sports, entertainment and science are joining together in a way never before seen in Seattle. Join us as we launch a new Science in the City series, bringing together three powerhouses of innovation: Seattle Kraken, Climate Pledge Arena, and Pacific Science Center.
In the coming months, we’ll explore the surprising and inspiring role science plays in the world of sports and entertainment, from geometry’s impact on the way a hockey puck moves across the ice and into the net, to the way physics shapes the path sounds take from the stage to the listener’s ear during a concert.
December 4, 2018: the National Hockey League’s Board of Governors voted to approve Seattle as the 32nd NHL Franchise for the 2021-22 season.
“Today is an exciting and historic day for our League as we expand to one of North America’s most innovative, beautiful and fastest-growing cities,” said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. “We are thrilled that Seattle, a city with a proud hockey history that includes being the home for the first American team ever to win the Stanley Cup, is finally joining the NHL.”
