Mysteries of China is a 43 minute documentary that captures one of the great archaeological events in modern times, telling the story of ancient China, the first Emperor, and the literal foundation of the China we know today. Mysteries of China is a fantastic complementary experience to better understand the artifacts in the Terracotta Warriors exhibition.

Important Things to Know When Planning Your Visit:

Admission and Reservations

  • Terracotta Warriors exhibit admission also includes admission to Pacific Science Center’s permanent exhibits. So be sure to enjoy all that there is to experience.
  • Terracotta Warriors exhibit admission requires a timed ticket entry. Entry times occur every 15 minutes. Once inside the exhibit, you may move at your own pace.
  • Tickets are available to purchase at Pacific Science Center’s box office with no service fees. You may also reserve your ideal date and time in advance by purchasing online or by phone at 1-800-664-8775. Advance reservations are recommended so as to avoid encountering sold out times upon your arrival.
  • The Science Center opens at 10 a.m. daily. First timed entry into the Terracotta Warriors exhibit is at 10:15 a.m. daily. Final timed entry varies, with the exhibit closing 90 minutes after final timed entry of the day (e.g. if Pacific Science Center permanent exhibits close at 6 p.m., final timed entry into Terracotta Warriors is also 6 p.m. and the exhibit closes at 7:30 p.m.). When purchasing tickets online you will be shown available dates and times.
  • Pacific Science Center welcomes many school groups. The majority of these visits occur Tuesday-Friday mornings.
  • We will experience increased volume during summer months and on weekends and holidays thus advance reservations are strongly recommended. If you purchase tickets online and have them available on your phone or as a print-at-home ticket, you can also expedite your entry by checking in at our Express Entrance or any other General Admission station.
  • Adding the Mysteries of China IMAX® experience to your Terracotta Warriors exhibit ticket package? We recommend seeing the 43 minute documentary before you visit the exhibit or leaving yourself ample time to enjoy the exhibit if you are seeing the documentary afterwards. The average visitor may take 60-90 minutes in the exhibit.

Parking, Entrances and Will Call

  • The James Albert Claypool Memorial Garage is located at the corner of Second Avenue North and Denny Way. The entrance is on the east side of Second Avenue North.
  • Street parking and additional paid lots are available nearby. Check our Plan Your Visit page. If you click Getting to Pacific Science Center, you will find a map of nearby parking options.
  • Paid street parking Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday/holiday street parking is free unless noted otherwise. Check parking pay units for details.
  • Guests may enter through one of two entrances – our main entrance to the north, facing Seattle Center, or at Denny Way.
  • Our Express Entrance, for those with pre-purchased tickets, is open daily and located at our main (north) entrance. There is also a dedicated Member Booth at the north entrance.
  • Visitor Guide & Maps are available at any entrance to help you navigate Pacific Science Center.

Inside the Exhibit

  • There are no restrooms located inside the exhibit, we recommend using the restroom prior to entering. The closest restroom is located in Building 5, close to exhibit entry and exit in the Special Exhibition Hall.
  • Multiple entries are not allowed – upon exiting the exhibit you will not be permitted to re-enter.
  • Once inside the exhibit please proceed at your own pace – we suggest giving yourself 60-90 minutes.
  • A narrated audio guide device is available for purchase in advance or prior to exhibit entry. Guides are available in English, Spanish and Mandarin and are a great way to enhance your Terracotta Warriors exhibit experience. The guide is $6 for the general public and $4 for members.
  • Non-flash photography is allowed inside the exhibit (with the exception of school groups), however we ask you please be aware of those around you and not impact their experience. No tripods are allowed.
  • Video of any kind is not permitted in the exhibit.
  • The following items are not allowed in the exhibit for the safety and enjoyment of both guests and artifacts: Food, beverage or gum, balloons, backpacks, double-wide strollers or wagons. There are lockers available in Buildings 1 and 3 to store items as needed.
  • The Terracotta Warriors exhibit is fully accessible for disabled patrons. Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Information Desk in Building 1 or our Denny Way entrance. ID will be required for rental.
  • At the conclusion of the exhibit you will find the official Terracotta Warriors Gift Shop. All Pacific Science Center guests may visit the Terracotta Warriors Gift Shop, the only place to obtain official exhibit merchandise.

How long does it take to experience Terracotta Warriors of the First Emperor?
Although ticket entry is timed and dated, you may proceed at your own pace once inside. An average visit length lasts 60-90 minutes. Please note, the exhibit closes 90 minutes after final timed entry.

If you are planning on seeing Mysteries of China in IMAX®, we recommend seeing the documentary before you visit the exhibit or leaving yourself ample time for the exhibit if you are seeing the documentary afterwards. Mysteries of China has a run time of 43 minutes.

Why are tickets timed and dated?
Tickets are timed and dated to facilitate entrance into the exhibit. By entering at pre-determined times, guests do not have to wait on a first-come, first-served basis. The safety and enjoyment of our guests experience is our first priority so we work to be mindful of the exhibit’s capacity. You must enter at your specified time, but may proceed at your own pace once inside the exhibit.

How long is the exhibit here?
Pacific Science Center will host the exhibit from April 8 – September 4, 2017. The exhibit will travel to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia after leaving Seattle.

Can I buy tickets at your box office on the day I want to enter?
You can purchase tickets at our box office but we strongly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to avoid arriving only to find tickets sold out for an extended amount of time. You can purchase tickets and make reservations online or by calling 1-800-664-8775.

Can I upgrade my CityPASS booklet to include Terracotta Warriors?
Yes. Present your CityPASS at our box office to purchase a Terracotta Warriors ticket for $15 and reserve a timed entry. You can purchase a CityPASS here.

Can I enter multiple times throughout the day?
With your timed entry, you can enter the Terracotta Warriors exhibit only once. You can proceed at your own pace once inside. Generally, the average time inside the exhibit is 60-90 minutes. However, the day of your visit you may exit Pacific Science Center and re-enter by showing your ticket or hand-stamp at the Express Entrance or to any available cashier for re-entry.

What is the audio guide?
The Terracotta Warriors exhibit audio guide is a narrated, hand-held device full of details and discoveries as you enjoy the exhibit. We believe it will enhance your overall experience. It is available for $6 to the general public and $4 for Members and can be purchased in advance or day of visit.

Are there restrooms inside the exhibit?
There are no restrooms located inside the exhibit, we recommend using the restroom prior to entering. The closest restroom is located in Building 5, close to exhibit entry and exit in the Special Exhibition Hall.

What is the atmosphere like inside the exhibit?
The Terracotta Warriors Exhibit has subdued lighting in many galleries and a neutral soundscape to create an immersive experience.

Can I take pictures or video in the exhibition?
Non-flash photography is allowed inside the exhibit but we ask you please be aware of guests around you and not impact their experience. Tripods are not allowed and video of any kind is prohibited.

Can I bring my pet?
We love all kinds of animals here at Pacific Science Center. We have snakes, naked mole rats and tropical butterflies to name a few! But only service animals are allowed.

Are the Terracotta Warriors statues and artifacts original?
The exhibit proudly features over 125 artifacts from the first imperial dynasty of China, dated over 2,000 years ago. There are a handful of replica pieces as well.

Is there a Gift Shop located at the exhibit?
Yes, the official Terracotta Warriors exhibit Gift Shop is located at the exit of the exhibit. All Pacific Science Center guests may visit the Terracotta Warriors exhibit Gift Shop, the only place to obtain official exhibit merchandise. In Building 3, you will also find our permanent Gift Shop.
